PHYSICAL INTELLIGENCE — DEVELOP THE CAPACITIES THAT HELP YOU THRIVE Est. Practice — Worldwide

What if yourcapacity isn'tthe limitation?

What we are capable of and what we can access are not always the same. Patterns outside conscious awareness can influence what we notice, how we interpret experience, and what becomes available to our thinking and choices.

01 — The Question

What determines how much of our capacity becomes available to us?

We tend to think of intelligence as a capacity we possess — our ability to reason, learn, analyze, remember, and solve problems.

But having a capacity and being able to access it are not always the same thing.

Patterns shaped by experience, attention, emotion, physiology, and learned responses can influence what we notice, what we overlook, how we interpret a situation, and which possibilities we perceive. Many of these patterns operate outside conscious awareness.

When the pattern changes, our intelligence hasn't necessarily changed. What becomes available to it can.

02 — Approach

Patterns live in more than thought.

We cannot always think our way out of patterns we cannot yet see.

The patterns that shape our responses can be expressed through thought, attention, emotion, physiology, perception, habitual behavior, and the body. Physical Intelligence develops our ability to notice these patterns as they arise — creating greater opportunity for awareness and intentional choice.

The work therefore engages more than cognition. Reflection and metacognition are combined with embodied practices that develop awareness, regulation, attention, and sensitivity to internal state.

i.

Breath

Develop awareness of physiological state and how it influences perception and response.

ii.

Movement

Cultivate attention and sensory awareness while revealing habitual patterns expressed through the body.

iii.

State

Learn to recognize and regulate internal conditions that influence how we think, feel, and respond.

iv.

Stillness

Create space to notice patterns and information that can remain beneath conscious attention.

03 — Framework

Physical Intelligence

Physical Intelligence is a framework for understanding and developing the human capacities that shape how we perceive, interpret, choose, and act.

It recognizes that human functioning is not purely cognitive. Thought, emotion, physiology, attention, embodied experience, and learned patterns continuously interact to influence how we experience and respond to the world.

A distinguishing element of the framework is Pattern Awareness — the ability to recognize recurring patterns that influence perception and behavior, including those that normally operate outside conscious awareness.

Becoming aware of a pattern does not automatically change it. But awareness creates something the pattern previously limited: the possibility of choice.

The PI Capacities

Physical Intelligence is organized around seven interconnected capacities — the PI Capacities — that influence how we access and express our broader human potential:

Center · Awareness · Pattern Awareness · Self-Regulation · Discernment · Connection · Vitality

Together, the PI Capacities provide a framework for exploring how we meet experience — what we notice, how we respond, what influences our choices, and what becomes available to us in the moment.

04 — The Human Edge

What becomes more important when intelligence is abundant?

Artificial intelligence is rapidly expanding access to information, analysis, and cognitive capability. But greater access to intelligence does not eliminate the distinctly human challenge of how we perceive, interpret, discern, and choose.

Human capabilities and qualities such as metacognition, perspective, creativity, adaptability, self-awareness, and the ability to question our own assumptions help us recognize patterns, see alternatives, and navigate situations where information alone is not enough.

These capabilities have always mattered. As AI becomes increasingly capable, developing them takes on new significance.

06 — The Work Behind ArtesHumanis

An inquiry spanning science, leadership, and human development.

ArtesHumanis and the Physical Intelligence framework were developed by Martina Wagner, PhD, a scientist and executive coach whose work brings together more than two decades of leadership experience in healthcare and life sciences with over 25 years of intensive study and practice in human development and Taoist mind-body traditions.

Across these different disciplines, one question has remained central:

What determines how much of our human capacity becomes available to us?
